We’re Annie and Andy Harpur and have made Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland our home.
Prior to that Andy lived most of his life in Worcestershire. Being a keen outdoor enthusiast he travelled the 1000 mile return journey to Glencoe and Scotland as many as six times per year to walk and climb our local mountains.
Annie originates from Yorkshire but has lived in many places in the UK. She has also spent several years in Southern Ireland before moving to Scotland in 2004. Together, Glencoe is our little bit of heaven and we look forward to meeting you.
Andy describes Annie as “one of the sparkly people”! A keen gardener and horticulturist with a varied career starting in civil engineering, she also ran her own landscaping business and for 8 years worked within the travel industry travelling through France & Italy before then working in community development. Annie has travelled extensively: anywhere from taking a cultural European city break to snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef.
She loves the ocean (and the colour blue!) and has finally realised her dream of living right next to the sea. Keen on interior design, Pier House has kept her busy and brimming with ideas to implement here. Annie loves cooking great food, long dog walks and occasionally paddles on the ocean too.
For over 25 years Andy has climbed rock, ice and mountaineered at many venues all across the UK, European Alps and Norway. Adventure has always been his primary motivator. Appreciation of the outdoor lifestyle, open spaces and great panoramas has led to a keen interest in landscape photography. Andy previously worked for a major IT company travelling to Canada the US and laterly travelling to India whilst managing a team of engineers based in Puna.
He runs highland-landscapes.scot where his portfolio can be seen and has exhibited his work in galleries locally in Fort William and also in London & Leeds. With a love of the mountains, he is equally passionate about the sea. Andy is a BCU 4 Star sea kayak leader. He is actively involved in leading trips for a local club and like many, he considers Scotland’s West coast to be a world class destination for the sport.
Annie and Andy own, manage and run Pier House together.
…and these guys live with us too!
